The Village Community

The community web site for
Stratford sub Castle
Salisbury, Wiltshire

Despite its small size Stratford has a thriving community spirit and on this page you can read about the various activities.

The Church plays a big part in the village. In addition to the normal services, its picturesque setting means it plays host to many functions, especially weddings and christenings. The Parochial Church Council oversees the running of the church and sub-committees are responsible for The Reading Room (Village Hall), Church Fabric and Charitable Giving.
The Friends of St Lawrence has recently been set up to ensure that funds are available to maintain this important village asset.

Stratford-sub-Castle School is a C of E Voluntary Controlled Primary school with a roll of 134, many of whom come from outside the parish.

There are several Societies active in the village; Stratford Guild, open to men and women, meets monthly to hear a guest speaker on a wide variety of topics, The Gardening Society also meets monthly while the Bell Ringers practice every Monday and ring for services each Sunday.
