Despite
its small size Stratford has a thriving community spirit and
on this page you can read about the various activities.
The Church plays a big part in the village. In addition to
the normal services, its picturesque setting means it plays
host to many functions, especially weddings and christenings.
The Parochial Church Council oversees the running of the church
and sub-committees are responsible for The Reading Room (Village
Hall), Church Fabric and Charitable Giving.
The Friends of St Lawrence
has recently been set up to ensure that funds are available
to maintain this important village asset.
Stratford-sub-Castle School is a
C of E Voluntary Controlled Primary school with a roll of
134, many of whom come from outside the parish.
There are several Societies active
in the village; Stratford Guild,
open to men and women, meets monthly to hear a guest speaker
on a wide variety of topics, The
Gardening Society also meets monthly while the Bell
Ringers practice every Monday and ring for services each
Sunday.
