Public Amenity Land

The parish has very little formal recreational ground, although Hudson's Field borders the parish, and is one of the most important pieces of recreational land in Salisbury. The small triangular bit at the northern end of Hudson's Field, that is cut off from the rest by the Portway, is inside the parish boundary. There are two schools with their own recreation grounds, but these are not public. The grassland between the outer and inner rings of Old Sarum Castle is owned by English Heritage, but is effectively public amenity land. The picture shows the football ground behind Farthing Cottage. This ground is owned by Sarum College (previously known as the Theological College) and has been leased to the council since 1995.
