1: Tadpole Island
Surrounding stream cleared of weed and fallen trees in approx 1999, to re-establish it as an island. Barbed wire fence erected to keep out cattle and casual visitors. Now an informal reserve, with many established trees of various types, including several that have fallen down, including some that are threatening to re-block the surrounding stream. Fairly high concentration of birds can be seen or heard on the island. A solitary Scots Pine at the northeast corner (in the main meadow, but inside the fence) is frequently used as a resting and lookout post for many birds, but particularly a Kestrel that patrols the meadow. In late 2003 one largish branch broke off, reducing its impressiveness.
