An introduction to our natural history pages

Our village has a rich and varied natural history. The Avon River is home to kingfishers, swans, moorhens, coots, dabchicks, herons and even a little egret. It also has a variety of fish. Its banks, which are mainly water meadows are rich in wild flowers and provide grazing for cattle. On each side of the Avon, as the land rises, farmers have arable and pasture fields.

There are currently two parts to this section -

1) Environment, 2) Botany

Notes

The information in our Natural History pages has been collected and collated by Richard Death and John Winders. Other contributors are welcome to provide data on other topics. How about; "birdlife", "mammals", "fish", "geology"?
