A local resident sent in the above image with the comment:
"On 4 March 2025 we were lucky enough to see what we believe to be a barn owl hunting at sunset on the south side of Old Sarum hill fort. We watched for about 5 minutes during which the owl had a short tussle with a crow before swooping on its prey and then flying off in the direction of Phillips Lane. A lovely experience. This is the fifth barn owl we have seen in the last 2 weeks - the others being on Salisbury Plain but it is nice to see a local resident too.
Apologies for the grainy photo - my phone's zoom was maxed out and the owl was deft in movement."

After the mist had cleared yesterday afternoon, near Keeper's Cottage there was a small group of five Roe deer relaxing in the sunshine. Three of the deer were grazing just out of shot of the two pictured above.
