Please read this if you (or someone you know) might feel vulnerable during a power cut

Following Storm Darragh in December 2024, Wiltshire Council gave this advice:

"If you know of any vulnerable people in your communities, please help them to sign up for the Priority Services Register, a free service that helps utility companies, such as energy and water suppliers, to look after customers who have extra communication, access or safety needs. For example, during a power cut, people who are signed up for the Priority Services Register may be offered extra support from their energy supplier."

Who might be considered vulnerable?

You or anyone in your household who:

  • is over 60 years old

  • is under 5 years old

  • is deaf or hard or hearing

  • has a disability

  • has a chronic illness

  • uses medical equipment/aids reliant on electricity
