Latest update from our Wiltshire Councillor Mark McClelland received today:
"Thank you for your email. Apologies for the slow reply, but my Head of Local Highways was on leave and then I was, so the reply has been sitting around for a few weeks!
Stratford Rd does feature on our proposed sites for veneer treatment. It has not been measured up yet, so we are waiting on costings.
This process is a valuable tool to deal with structurally sound footways, by sealing the surface and preventing the surface deteriorating further. Looking at the photographs it does seem to be an approach that is reasonable."

It would have been a splendid achievement if the works on the pavements that lead up towards Stratford sub Castle's Primary School could have been completed during the half-term break. However, local resident Jim Platt, has advised that earlier this week when he was talking to the foreman of the patchers, he was told that their job is to do the difficult bits like the dips and then 'the Council' will come along and put a top coat on all the pavement. No sign of the tarmac lorry yet...

Hopefully the forthcoming repairs and resurfacing announced by Wiltshire Council will be to the excellent standard that was evident in Shakespeare Road when the image at the bottom of this page was taken a few days' ago.
