Wiltshire Council has reported:
"Our Highways teams dealt with more than 150 calls during Storm Darragh last weekend, with most calls being for fallen trees and branches on the highways. We had 13 chainsaw crews responding to reports and clearing trees to help keep Wiltshire moving."
Ed: The fallen tree that had blocked the footpath & cyclepath near Waitrose and the trees around the carpark at Five Rivers Health & Wellbeing Centre (see earlier News below), were all cleared promptly by Wiltshire Council.
"Throughout this week, our highways teams and Parish Stewards have been working to clean up the aftermath of the storm.
There will no doubt be more storms in Wiltshire over the coming months, so please ensure you are as prepared as you can be.
Please sign up for flood warnings and find out what to do when warnings or alerts are in place, even if you haven’t been affected by flooding recently. The ground is still saturated in many areas and if we have more rain it’s important that you are aware of what to do in case of flooding. The Government’s flood alerts and warnings webpage has the latest on flooding issues around the county.
If you know of any vulnerable people in your communities, please help them to sign up for the Priority Services Register, a free service that helps utility companies, such as energy and water suppliers, to look after customers who have extra communication, access or safety needs. For example, during a power cut, people who are signed up for the Priority Services Register may be offered extra support from their energy supplier.
Please report any issues to us with MyWilts."
